It is important to create awareness regarding this issue within the larger education community as well as parents. This has been noticed in last 5 years that the parents are being denied for the registration form under EWS quota by the school authorities on the pretext of one reason or the other. The one of the excuse among other excuses is there is no seat for EWS quota or we have distributed the forms..
As per the notification of Education Department dated 25/01/07 if the number of applicants exceed beyond the number of seats then in that condition the school authority has to conduct the draw, but this practice is not being adopted by the Public Schools.
Therefore to bring the transparency for the EWS admission Pardarshita has filed a complaint U/s 18 of the Right to Information Act in Central Information Commission.
During the hearing of this matter the Information Commissioner Sh. Shailesh Gandhi ordered that all unaided recognized schools which were given land by the Government on concessional rates have to display a notice board outside the schools with all the necessary information related to the admission under EWS quota. The schools have to display the total no. of seats class wise, total no. of vacant seats class wise, seats available for the EWS quota, number of application received the date of receiving the application and the date by which the admission under EWS quota will be given. The schools are further instructed to update the board every week on weekly basis.
In continuation of the order of Central Information Commission the Education Department has also issue a circular for all the schools and the Deputy Director of Education of all the Districts that the boards will be displayed outside the schools and will be updated on weekly basis.
